  • Discuss Medicare specific regulations defining hospital inpatient vs hospital outpatient status. In addition, explain the compliance implications for the patient, physician and hospital when billing Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B.
  • Identify the various national programs (MACs and RACs) that CMS has initiated to audit hospitals and providers to ensure Medicare billing and claim compliance. Also, provide an introduction to auditing techniques by these review bodies and area that will be targeted.
  • Describe techniques to ensure compliance with Medicare regulations. These techniques will ensure consistent billing between the hospital and physician; thus preventing denied claims.
