Arnold Library
History
The decision to support the educational, research and clinical information needs of Straub began in 1922. The library was renamed Arnold Library in 1969 in honor of a father and son team Harry L. Arnold Sr., M.D. and Harry L. Arnold, Jr., M.D.
Services
Computer-generated bibliographies of literature pertinent to the user's specific research and educational or clinical needs are provided by trained search analysts. Searches are usually completed within one working day.
Document Delivery
The library provides electronic document delivery to all the staff, medical students and residents. There is no charge to Straub employees for work-related materials, for non-work-related materials a charge of $10.00 interlibrary loan will be charged. All mainland requests are transmitted by electronic interlibrary loan systems. Turnaround time averages seven working days. All transactions will be in compliance with the copyright law, and must follow the standards set by the American Library Association and the National Library of Medicine for processing interlibrary loans. Compliance with the Copyright Act (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Borrowing Privileges
All services are open to the Straub staff as well as the outside community in support of those who engage in continuing education, clinical teaching and research. Borrowing privileges are extended to all Straub employees. The library is open to the general public seeking personal or family related health information. Discounts on Book Purchases
The library provides all Straub employees the opportunity to purchase books through the library and receive a 10% discount.
Audio-Visual Equipment
For meeting presentations, staff can borrow slide projectors; overhead projectors, TV/VHS. Advance reservations are necessary. Call the library (808) 522-4471 or send a request by E-Mail To Fran Smith fsmith@straub.net.
Hours
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30p.m
The library is accessible 24 hour/day through the Security department. For safety reasons the library is not available to non-physicians after hours.
